Swimming/ Playgrounds:
Visit the town park located in the centre of Mullingar and take a swim in the 25m indoor swimming pool. Public sessions held daily except Monday. Tel: 044-9340262 for further details. Adjacent to the pool are two playgrounds suitable for all ages.
Indoor Playcentre:

Run Free/Treasure Hunts:
Children love Belvedere House and Gardens, 160 acres of rolling countryside that they can run free in. Belvedere regularly host specific child centred activities including treasure hunts, sports days, arts and craft workshops, nature trails, and funfairs. Outdoor Adventures:
If you are feeling active, head to Lilliput Adventure Centre on the shores of Lough Ennell just ten minutes from the town centre. It’s a fabulous, unspoilt location where you can canoe, kayak, hill walk, rock climb, and take part in lots of fun group activities. Pitch n Putt:

Arts:
Check out Mullingar Arts Centre located on Lower Mount Street in Mullingar, where they have a host of activities for children to suit all ages. You can find out what’s happening from their website which is updated regularly, or contact them on 044 93 47777.
Coderdojo:
Coderdojo is a global collaboration providing free and open learning to young people, especially in programming technology. Located at Mullingar Charity Variety Group’s Studio, Forest Park, Mullingar Business Park, Clonmore, Mullingar. They meet every Saturday from 12pm- 2pm. Bring the Bikes:
A new dimension to cycling and Walking in Mullingar and its environs is now available with the development by Westmeath County Council in cooperation with Waterways Ireland & funding from the Department of Transport, Tourism & Sport of over 32km of the Royal Canal towpath as a walking & cycling route. The Westmeath Royal Canal Greenway stretches from the Meath county boundary to Coolhahay harbour with several access points along the way. Boating:
Take a boat out on the lakes. Boat Hire available from Lilliput Boat Hire (April-Oct) Tel : 087-6492866. For younger children, they will enjoy taking a pedal boat and exploring the lake shore. If you’d like to go fishing, local guides are available to take you to the best places.
Go Greyhound Racing:
Children and teenagers will love Greyhound Racing. Racing takes place every Thursday and Saturday evening and full restaurant and snack food facilities are available.
